Highlights (2026 update):

Fuel poverty in Surrey rated at 7.3% of all domestic households (37,500 households) in 2024. While this is lower than both England and the South East at 9.9% and 8.2% respectively.

There was a 1% decrease in the proportion of fuel poor households compared to 2022 (-3,460 households). This represents a 0.1 percentage point decrease from 8.3% in 2022 to 8.2% in 2023.

Every District and Borough registered a decrease in the proportion of fuel poor homes, compared to 2022.

There are over 22,400 domestic properties with an EPC rating of F or lower (4.5%) with the potential of bringing this figure down to only 2,900.

Domestic mean and median electricity consumption averages in Surrey are both higher than England and South East averages.

Domestic mean and median gas consumption averages in Surrey are both higher than England and South East averages.

There are approximately 25,000 electric prepayment meters in Surrey with an average consumption rate of 4,450 kWh.
