Highlights (April 2026 update):

• According to Census 2021 figures, around 70% of households in Surrey are owned and 17% privately rented.

• Approximately 32% of all accommodations in Surrey are detached houses, followed by semi-detached at 29%, and flats at 19%.

• In 2025, the housing affordability ratio in Surrey Local Authorities ranged from 9.8 to 15.7 times the median salary to afford a median-priced home.

• The median property price paid in Surrey was £500,000. This varied considerably across districts with median prices ranging between £435,000 and £650,000.

• The lowest median price property price by MSOAs was recorded at £290,000 in Reigate and Banstead 018 while the highest was £1.19M in Elmbridge 018.

• The average private rental cost in Surrey for the month of February 2026 was £1,608. This figure changes based on the number of rooms and the district/borough where the rental property is located.

• Between April 2024 and March 2025 there were 3,839 households recognised as requiring either a prevention or relief duties.

• In the Q4 of 2025, there were 895 repossession actions in Surrey.
