Total school workforce

This page includes data on the size (and characteristics) of the school workforce in maintained schools and Academy schools. It is based on data collected from schools and local authorities in November as part of the annual School Workforce Census.

Snapshot survey data on staff position in each November is taken as the position for that academic year: i.e. November 2020 data relates to the 2020/2021 academic year.
