Surrey Healthy Schools Wellbeing Survey
The Surrey Healthy Schools Wellbeing Survey (formerly the Health Related Behaviour Questionnaire) is Surrey’s county‑wide health and wellbeing survey for children and young people. Newly refreshed for this year and more closely aligned to the Surrey Healthy Schools approach, it captures self‑reported experiences, feelings and behaviours to provide meaningful insight into pupils’ lives.
The survey is fully funded for Surrey schools and provides a valuable resource to explore issues that matter to children, young people and the professionals supporting them. It takes a strengths‑based approach, with questions developed in collaboration with Education, Public Health, Mindworks, School Nursing, Community Safety, commissioned services and young people, ensuring the content is current, relevant and responsive to emerging needs.
The survey is primarily targeted at Years 5, 6, 8 and 10 and is delivered as an anonymous online questionnaire, with a paper option available if required. Schools who take advantage of the survey offer will receive a confidential, school‑level report, providing high‑quality pupil voice evidence to support whole‑school improvement, safeguarding and Ofsted expectations.
This year, enhanced support is available from Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs), including help to interpret and utilise survey findings to strengthen a whole‑school approach to emotional wellbeing and mental health, and pupil feedback sessions to share results and explore key themes in more depth.
Registration is now open, and schools are encouraged to take advantage of this fully funded opportunity to gain robust, actionable pupil voice data: https://sheu.org.uk/register
